Beautiful Day and New Camera

Filed under: Washington — dave @ 11:22 pm

Today was one the Chamber of Commerce loves to brag about.  Clear skies, calm and 55 degrees.  I had to really try out the new camera I received for my birthday.

The first picture is a panorama composed of three hand held shots.  The panorama was created using Photoshop.  The scene is Port Washington Narrows looking to the West and the Olympic Mountains.  The shooting location is Lion’s Park which is two blocks from the house.

The second photo is of the waterfront at Lion’s Park; again looking toward the Olympic Mountains.

Both images are highly compressed for viewing here.  The original images are much sharper and could easily be enlarged to 24″ X 36″.

Back in the Saddle Again

Filed under: Family, Washington — dave @ 10:48 pm

After a lot of years of taking only family photos, I received a Sony A-100 DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera for my birthday.  In addition to the 18-70mm lens that came with the camera, my Minolta Autofocus lenses work just great.  Below is just one sample.  I took the picture on the Seattle-Bremerton ferry leaving Seattle.  It is the Seattle waterfront.  This is a highly compressed copy of the original.  The original is a 10mb file, which would take eons to view.

For the camera nuts in the crowd, the following are the particulars about the shoot.

Camera:  Sony A-100

Lens:  Minolta 28-105mm Zoom

Focal Length:  28mm

f Stop:  f/11

Exposure:  1/250 sec

Color Space:  sRGB

Image format:  JPG
