Our roses are continuing to bloom madly. These photos are of the Nancy Reagan and the Joseph’s Coat. The Joseph’s Coat is especially interesting. When the buds first open they are yellow and gradually turn to pink and finally red as the flower matures. Notice the masses of new buds.

Jeff bought me a genuine Chelsea US Government Ship’s Clock for my last birthday. I had been pondering how to mount it other than screwing it to the wall (bulkhead) as is done aboard ship. I found a round oak plaque, stained it and mounted the clock. It’s in the front hallway and looks good if I say so myself.

We’ve had a family of five raccoons that have been gathering peanuts from the ground the last week or so. We’ve tolerated them because they had been polite. Besides, the little ones are cute.
No more! Last night they became the mob that ate Bremerton!! They discovered we had gold fish in the large pond. It wouldn’t have been so bad if they just bellied up to the sushi bar, but no! They had to rip out the cat tails and water lilies, knocked over lights and generally made a mess. In addition, they got about half the fish.
This means WAR!!
Jeff, Tanner and Sydney were here for a visit this past week. We had a blast with them. Sydney had lots of fun exploring the yard and garden.

The garden is really starting to shine. We have crook neck squash coming quite often now. They are yummie steamed with onions, garlic and, of course, bacon.
We will start harvesting tomatoes in 3-4 more days. They are edible now, but the sugar content is not as high as it should be. The light green tomato plants are tomatillos. I guess we will have to go into the Salsa Verde business.
The sunflowers are at least 10-12 feet tall and show no signs of stopping. They are starting to set seeds and the song birds are staking out territory.
Roses, roses, roses. There were only two worn out roses on the property when we bought it. We now have 14 of various varieties, all in full bloom.
