Today is our 45th wedding anniversary.  Whoda thunk Bonnie could have tolerated me for all these years?

Visitors From the Outer World

Dune fans get it.

We just spent 4 very pleasant days with Doug and August, our oldest son and his wife.  The are currently in transition from almost 30 years in Alaska to a new position in Charleston, West Virginia.  Doug is an Air Traffic Control Supervisor with the FAA.  Yesterday he finagled 2 hours for us in the Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-700 full motion simulator in Seattle.  It was a blast and a jaw dropper at the absolute sensory reality it places you in.  It is no wonder the FAA allows flight training in one of those toys to count the same as the airplane.

Doug and August left yesterday to visit their daughter in Spokane with continued travel to Texas and other places before settling in Charleston.

The Struggles of Spring

Filed under: House, Washington — dave @ 7:58 am

Spring is having a hard time being born this year.  From the warm days at the beginning of April to late frost the weather can’t decide what it wants to be.  We have now settled into a ‘normal’ PNW spring.  The flowering trees are in bloom, the temperatures are in the 50’s and we haven’t had frost in over a week.

Scaredy Cat Weather Persons

Filed under: House, Washington — dave @ 8:19 pm

The high today was 78 with totally clear skies.  It’s amazing how one little blog can clear up the weather.  Of course, it won’t last.  They are predicting a high of 60 tomorrow with partly cloudy skies.

One can only hope they tremble in the face of the almighty blog.

OK, That’s IT!

Filed under: House, Washington — dave @ 7:49 am

This morning (April 3) dawned with the temperature hovering around 30 degrees.  Come on!  This is April.  The birds are back, the grass is growing.  The dandelions are already showing a bumper crop and we get freeking frost?

The weather persons (PC, you know) had better get with the program or they’ll find themselves forcasting from Adak Island.
