Continued Wierd Weather

Filed under: House, Washington — Dave @ 11:39 pm

The last eight days have been stupendous!  Chilly in the morning (low 30’s) to low 50’s by afternoon.  In addition to that, there hasn’t been a cloud in the sky all that time.

I think the weather gods are laughing at us.

Banana Belt

Even though Bremerton is in the PNW banana belt, it seems as if all the bananas flew south for the winter.  We’ve gone from record rains this winter to record cold and snow.  Supposedly it never snows at sea level in Puget Sound.  Someone needs to tell the weather.

Storm Drain Update (Thrilling)

Filed under: House, Washington — Dave @ 10:15 am

We had almost two inches of rain yesterday.  Even though this is the Pacific Northwest, one begins to wonder about water from the sky.

The newly cleaned and opened storm drain from the back yard to the front worked beautifully.  At the height of the storm the back sidewalk and patio had no standing water and the garage wasn’t threatening to become an indoor pool.

Looking for Noah

Filed under: House, Washington — Dave @ 10:36 pm

Yesterday we had 3.3 inches of rain in two hours.  We have a french drain/storm sewer from the back yard to the front decide its mission in life was to clog up and overflow into the back yard rather than drain the hillside to the street.  Between rushing to Lowe’s and buying a sump pump for 100 clams and digging out the drain of roots, rocks and sand, it was a miserable and wet day.

Of course, now that the drain is clear and I have a submersible pump, it’ll probably never rain again.
