The storm caused damages of epic proportion in the Pacific Northwest. At the peak there were over 1.2 million customers without electricity. We were without power from 8 pm Thursday, December 14 to 5 am Saturday, December 16. We huddled around the fireplace to keep warm and listened to the battery radio for news. Cable TV came back around 10 am Saturday and the internet finally came alive at 4:20 pm.
At its peak we had gusts of 82 mph on our street. Our house never shook, moaned or rattled though. Our only damage was 6 shingles which I replaced on Friday, December 15.
As of today, December 20 there are still approximately 150,000 homes without power, primarily in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties and on Bainbridge and Vashon Islands.
Whooosh!
We had 60 mph winds with rain today. Trees down, power out for six hours and WORSE; cable TV and internet was out for 7 hours.
The injustice!!
Jake and I did the outside Christmas lights today. I kept waiting for Randy Quaid to drive up in his high class motor home.
